Artist Rebecca Hauschild Receives Achievement Award

'Widow of War" oil, 41x29, Award prize at the "Soliloquy Exhibit" at the Anton Art Center, Macomb, MI.

I was given a photo of a Burundian widow from Denise Vibbert, who co-founded Sister Connection,a non-profit organization for widows and orphans of Burundi, Africa. Denise felt that since I was a single mom I could capture the emotions of the woman whom she had befriended. I was honored. I loved creating this piece and working to capture the emotions of moment.

 Spring Art News

Summer is right around the corner! Spring has been such an inspirational time for me this year.

I attended an artist retreat in April and it brought me to a new understanding of just how many different colors of spring foliage there are, with the blossoming trees putting the icing on the cake!

The retreat was held in Hastings, MI at the Pierce Cedar Creek Institute for environmental education. We had 750 acres to pick and choose where we could set up for the day to paint our visions. There are several places to stay on the grounds. The farmhouse I was in was delightful. We gathered for meals in the visitors' center with large windows and a beautiful veranda overlooking rolling hills. The days were filled with painting, demos, videos and critiquing. Painting outdoors in the fresh air coupled with the learning experiences and great food meant that each night we were more than ready for bed. The entire retreat was very well organized by Lisa Ritcher...

Higgins Lake Puzzle

Higgins Lake Puzzle

I created this painting of Point Detroit, a well known outcropping on Higgins Lake, Michigan from a photo that I took one early morning. Point Detroit is easily recognized by a uniquely wind-shaped tree that is a great marker on the lake. It is a place that provides a focus for capturing the beauty of sunrises and sunsets. My art was selected by the Loom Room, on Higgins Lake, a gift, novelty and souvenir shop. I am honored that they chose my work of art for their puzzle this year.
You can contact The Loom Room at 989-821-9269 to obtain additional information and pricing.

Rebecca’s Art News

Summer is a very special time in Michigan with the warm days, cool nights and our abundant lakes and verdant forests! There are a seemingly endless and breathtaking number of opportunities available to paint our beautiful natural scenery!

This past year I have focused on paintings of northern Michigan especially the area around Higgins Lake reported to be the “sixth most beautiful lake in the world”! Posters of my paintings from around the lake will be framed by The North Studio, (8446 N. Higgins Lake Dr., Roscommon, MI) in quarter-sawn oak and available at the studio or online at www.rebecca-hauschild.pixels.com

Several new pieces of my art are now on display at the Stream Side (1136 E. Higgins Lake Dr., Roscommon, MI) and at the Paint Creek Center (407 Pine St. Rochester, MI). If you are near either of these locations, please stop in and take a look.

2015 marked the first time that I am offering my artwork reproduced on...
